Desiring both the gold Baguio real estate

Desiring both the gold and its year-round cool weather, the Americans, the Philippines' next colonizers, developed the area as both a mining town and recreational facility. Much of their infrastructure and institutions survive to this day.
The Baguio Country Club was formed in 1902, the Mansion House was built to serve as the summer residence of the Governor-General of the Philippines and the U.S. Army developed a 1718-acre reservation as Camp John Hay in 1903.
